Mando Footloose: A Chainless Folding Electric Bicycle

Mando Footloose

Mando Footloose is a joint partnership project by Korean auto suppliers Mando Corporation and Meister Inc. The design involves no chains or sharp edges of a conventional bicycle; instead this curvy model runs on Chainless Series Hybrid Technology.

The electronic motor that runs the wheels is connected to the wheels by wires and gets charged simultaneously as you pedal as well as by the mechanical energy of the bicycle. The bicycle can be powered up to 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) with the motor alone or pedal for more range.

The energy stored in a lithium-ion battery, which is then used to actuate the engine. Using an electronic control unit (ECU), Mando Footloose works with sensors and an automatic gear changer to monitor terrain and adjust the motor’s output as necessary.
